Help Send VitaMeal To Nigerian IDPs

Help Send VitaMeal To Nigerian IDPs

The Keeping It Real With Adeola KIRWA Foundation has partnered with Rehoboth Foundation in Texas and Adopt-A-Camp Foundation  in Nigeria, to secure containers of food enough to feed almost a million internally displaced people in a year. Please be a part of this cause; we're raising $10,000 needed for shipping & clearing the first set of containers.

There are more than 2 million Internally Displaced People (IDP) in Nigeria due to the Boko Haram insurgency. According to the UN, 75,000 Nigerian children at IDP camps risk dying within months if they are not fed immediately. UNICEF says as many as 134 children could die daily from malnutrition.

We're sending containers filled with bags of VitaMeal, the nutritious food manufactured specifically for malnourished children and adults in disaster areas to help them regain their nourishment.

VitaMeal is halal friendly, completely vegan, very rich in nutrients, non-dairy, and allows for easy addition of ingredients to fit every taste and culture. Each VitaMeal package contains 30 child-sized meals, or enough food to provide a child with one nutritious meal each day for a month.

It comes in flavors: rice & lentil, or roasted maize & soya beans porridge. Each bag of rice and lentil contains 30 cups. Each cup yields 295 calories. It is also very easy to prepare and is ready within minutes

The containers have been loaded in Utah, we need to get them to Texas, then ship to Lagos, Nigeria, and drive to Borno and Adamawa States.

Our goal is to feed more than 900,000 IDPs this year, so we plan on sending containers every month.

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) in Nigeria has approved this meal. They asked for sample, and it has been received and approved.

The Nigerian Port Authority is also aware of this project, and they’re eagerly waiting to clear the containers.

In addition to food, we are sending soaps, clothes, toothpaste, toothbrushes, and sanitary pads for the internally displaced.
